Just recently, I bought an NOE 316299 mould for my .303 shooting. I haven't done much with it so far, but the dimensions look very encouraging. The bullets are over 200 grains in wheelweight alloy.

You have a home-grown mould-maker there in Oz; try a search for "Eagan mould" and see what comes up. He specializes in .303 moulds, or at least has a number of designs available for them.maybe try CB Engineering as well, which I think is in Australia.

I note that you want a "hunting bullet"....also do a search for "doftpoint", because a lot of experimentation has been done on creating two-alloy hunting bullets with pure-lead noses and harder shanks.

And...welcome, mate!

314299 if it fits, CBE or NOE custom mold if 314299 is too small.

The lee 312-185 is too small for all of my SMLE and #4s but works well in the 30-40 and 30-06.

Recently ordered some 150 gn 303 hunting boolits. When I got them home they were 308 diameter. Are 303s not 311s normally? Asked him about it and he said they will work fine--have my doubts.

Chances are they are way undersized. Yes, 303 british is nominally .311 in the grooves and many are a good bit larger than that. I have one that is more a small 8mm than a large 30.

anyone got any tips on slugging and measuring a 5 groove barrel ?
i figure with a 6 groove it would be easy as it is symetricaly even but with 5 your always going to be measuring 1 land and 1 groove ?

Use a V-block to measure the slug. If you dont have one, 45Nut sells them pretty cheap.

Accurate Molds(.com) and Mountain Molds(.com) can both get you fixed up good provided you don't mind a 0.18" meplat flat on the tip of your boolit instead of a completely round nose tip and your gun will feed such a design without it hanging up in the action. That flat on the tip also helps for a hunting boolit.

I am using an Accurate Molds design #31-180B with excellent results over a triple stack "long low pressure burn" load:

~ Two grains of R-7 over primer as primer ignition booster
~ Case filled to base of shoulder with mil. surp. 50-BMG ball powder
~ COW filler on top of that to half way up the neck
~ Bullet seated to crimp in the bottom TL groove (compressed load)
~ Two lube grooves on base of boolit filled with White Label BAC lube
~ TL grooves on nose of exposed boolit of finished cartridge dipped in warmed up 3-to-1 JPW/X-lox

I'm getting pop can killing accuracy with the original iron sights at the hundred yard line and it leaves my bore clean. Kicks like 3/4 of a military ball load (that being 3/4 of a mule with a steel butt plate on the stock).

Please take all that with a grain (or two or more) of salt since I'm extremely biased with that opinion since it's my own custom design dimensioned specifically to fit my guns.
