Well guys, the rain let up long enough to try my first pour today. All it was was 2.5# of clean lead from a Hot Pot I got recently. I used an 8 cell muffin pan, and FA graphite release. How did I do? :drinks:

Well, you're off to a good start.

Don't use the mould release on your moulds. If boolits are sticking, there is a reason for it, and it needs to be corrected. Mould release only masks the reason, and if enough is applied, the mould will drop skinny boolits.

There shouldn't be any need to use it in the ingot mould, either.

Now, turn that ingot into boolits.

OK, I'll pour the next few without it. I don't have a press or mould yet, but plan on it soon. I just scored about 40# of WW a week or so ago, and want to do some refining. All in due time....

Good go and it looks like your muffin pan has a slight tapper towards the bottom. This is a good thing when looking for an ingot mold, the more tapper the better. I agree with the release agent...............not in the molds and and probably won't need it in the muffin pan.

Welcome to Castboolits MO Fugga,

Looks to me like your off to a fine start.

I concur on the mold release. There are only two reasons for mold release in bullet casting. 1> Old wives tales that say it's needed and 2> People that sell it that want you to believe the old wives tales so they make a profit.
