This is the 2004 Swedish army soldier's handbook for the m/94-14 carbine:

K 5 Skånska husarregementet (Scanian Hussars Regiment) (1807–1927)

1833 was a new subdivision of 10 squadrons of 100 men each. Denna kom att gälla till 1926, bortsett från att indelningsverket upphörde efter 1901 och de geografiska namnen bortlades 1905: This was to last until 1926, except that the allotment ceased after 1901 and the geographical names were removed in 1905:

* 1. 1st Livskvadron Livskvadron
* 2. Sandby skvadron 2nd Sandby squadron
* 3. Kolleberga skvadron 3rd Kolleberga squadron

The 3 over K5 on the unit disc would indicate this 3rd squadron of the 5th Kavalry, the Kolleberga squadron.

The stock looks like it might've been sanded at some point in the past. You would be wise to do NOTHING to this carbine. The condition would rate NRA Very Good and value about $650ish. Anything you do to this carbine will diminish that number considerably. There have been many $800 Swedish carbines built into really great $150 deer guns.

The extension on the muzzle was put there pre-1968 due to the original barrel being shorter than was legal at the time. You're pretty much stuck with it.

Original slings are extremely costly and very rare. Most guys will take a m/96 sling and fake it. Doesn't take much and hardly anybody will be able to tell. The m/1914 bayonets are common enough and can be found $75-150+.

My own m/94-14 carbine is marked to K1, the Livguard, the Stockholm palace guards that today still carry the carbines. Notice the bolts are cocked with the safety on. They are carried with live ammo.

This young black Swedish soldier always reminds me of Jimi Hendricks because of his horse....... "excuse me while I kiss the sky". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purple_Haze

Thanks dutch that gives me alot of good info, now I know I won't destroy the value doing something stupid to it, I guess I'll try to find a real collector who will injoy it more than myself. Although it's a nice rifle and shoots good I'm not a true collector of guns ,unless I actually hunt with it.

Mine was altered before I got it. Long before. My father traded another rifle for it when I was in grade school. That was over 40 years ago. Someone took off the rear sight, filled the hand guard with wood filler, and installed a Redfield peep sight. What sucks is it is a 1898 model with a low four digit serial number.

If and when you decide you want to sell it let me know and I'll help put you in contact with collectors. At the Swedish military firearms forum at www.gunboards.com we allow WTS within the forum for a fixed price. No "best offer" type ads are allowed. I'd suggest more photos.. you really can't have too many photos when you want to sell a Swede carbine for $650. The more photos the faster it will sell. I've seen carbines sell in MINUTES. There are a lot of cash heavy lurkers (sharks) on our forum looking for people like you.

I advocate for the seller, you, not the buyer. You have less experience and knowledge about Swedish firearms. I can't and won't use that inexperience to enrich someone else's collection by advising you to sell for a price that is less than what I consider to be a fair market value. I get asked all the time to look at rifles and carbines offered for sale. As long as the photos are good and I can get a feel for the offering I don't mind. Better than half the time I caution against buying due to obvious detractions that an inexperienced person might not notice or give weight to.

Photo suggestions: Show the upper tang of the receiver. It looks like yours is slightly above the wood line. This is what indicates to me that the wood has been sanded. Also show the fit of the buttplate to the stock and the fit of the triggerguard to the stock. These are all places that will show sanding and detract from a higher price. Swedish Mauser rifle & carbine buyers are/have become a very picky lot.

When you have an extra $1,000 let me know. I have a very nice untouched, unmessed with 1915 m/94-14 marked to the 1st Kavalry Reg't with all matching numbers and as-new unissued m/1914 bayonet in grease with scabbard and frog. I got it from the author of "Crown Jewels: The Mauser in Sweden".

The disc is shown in Crown Jewels page 162:

altering means anything done including, " cleaning it up". Don't try to make it look new. no sanding, steel wool, brass wool, scrapers, re-blue, taking off dirt, raising dents, buggering up screws, you have a nice piece wipe it off with a lightly oiled rag and call it done. of course , clean afte firing.
