Bought a 475 Linebaugh, 5 1/2 inch barrel, factory trigger job, express sights.
Have a Montana bear tag next month. Installed a Leupold 2.5 X 8. Will be using the Cast Performance 410 grain bullet, thats what I have and they shoot really good out of this revolver. 3 ring TSOB. Anyone have a bullet they really like?

The Lee 476-400 is another good one. At .475 caliber, it's kind like throwing a rock through something. Any boolit that is acceptably accurate will do the job with good shot placement.

I would go with a 2X or 4X scope on such a short gun, or any revolver really. That is a very large scope you have.

Actually, with that short a barrel, you have a good short sight radius for shooting to longer ranges with just open sights.

Zeus has a group buy going for a HP that should be final word in 475 boolits(well almost :) )

ive got alot of 475 molds that are good molds. To start with buy yourself the rcbs 400 grain swc and the lee 400 rf. there both realitively inexpensive molds and both shoot well in my 475s. I cast them out of #2 and size to .476 using a good soft lube. If you need comercial bullets contact frank at Mt. Baldy bullets. He will set you up with good bullets in the weight and hardness you need for bear.

I havent seen a bullet the 475 wouldnt shoot. Like the 222, its just an accurate cartridge.

I second the RCBS 400 SWC being a great bullet. The only problem is it won't fit in a FA cylinder. Sounds like he might have a FA. I had Mountain Molds cut me a copy of the RCBS SWC with a slightly shorter nose to fit in my FA.

i never looked close enough. Niether of those bullets will work unless you trim back brass. I mostly use a 420 ballitic cast lfngc in my fa gun it has a very short nose and is almost a cross between an lfn and a wfn. It shoots exceptionaly well in all three of my 475s but i dont know if with ballistic cast folding a guy can even get that mold anymore. Sounds like a Freedom to me too. It has a short cylinder and a slow twist. We found a 350 gr boolit would do under 1" at 50 yards but as weight went up, so did groups. The Lee 400 will fit just barely. You must seat to the very top of the crimp groove and hope none pull from recoil.
The scope is too heavy to withstand the recoil for long, it WILL move or break at some point. Being a Loopy, it might survive.
My 420 gr boolit will fit a Freedom and it is satisfactory for hunting and will knock the lights out of a deer or anything else.
Choose the boolit with care and the gun WILL shoot.
I don't think there is anything better then the .475 except the .500 JRH. Both provide instant STUN to an animal.
Do not worry about boolit weight in the .475, no need for super heavy, just find the accuracy.
