"Lee 145 grain SWC..."

I recently purchased a Storm Lake ported .40 S & W barrel for my Glock 32 (.357 Sig). As I would like to shoot a lighter boolit, I am considering the Lee 145 grain SWC. However, I am not sure the SWC profile will feed through the Storm Lake barrel well. Other molds are kind of out of my price range right now.

Anybody have experience with this SWC for the .40 S & W?

Ordered this mold and .401 sizer along with a Lee 195 grain semi-wadcutter mold and .410 sizer for my .41 magnum today. We will see how they work out.

I shoot this boolit pretty much exclusively in my .40. It is the most accurate boolit I have used and it is frugal on lead. My 40 is a cheap Hi-Point, so I have no idea how it will work in your barrel, but it feeds perfectly through mine, when the TC boolits would jam. I just wish they made it in a 6 cavity.

I had problems with the 145 swc feeding in my beretta px4, switched to the 175 TC and it feeds fine. Wish I'd seen this post earlier as I'd have made you a good deal on a used swc mold. Such are the breaks I guess

Thanks guys. Sounds like finding a good .40 boolit mold can be something of a **** shoot. Plinkster, I know how you feel, I gave away all my once fired .40 brass on a "pay it forward" and then the next week bought a barrel suitable for cast boolits. Not exactly the same thing, but still hard to predict what you are going to need in the future.

The Truncated Cone (TC) seems to be the best boolit style for good function in the 40 S&W pistols

I have loaded the Lyman #401638 40-175-TCBB and a 40-145-TCBB I recut in a Lyman four cavity 9mm mould. Both boolits work fine when sized to 401 and loaded to a COL that fits your barrel. :castmine:

Best boolit I have found for my 40s has been the Miha 401. That thing feeds like it has been lubed in butter and very sexy to boot. ;)
