Saved by the bell. I put the 1866 on the block the other day, got a couple of nibbles. I also had a No4Mk11 that I no longer need (picked up a really mint one). I was in the shop and asked if he had any interetsing pistols, He said he had sold off most of his pistols to a shop interstate that was starting up and needed stock. The only thing he had left was the nib Army San Marco nickel in 44/40. I offered to swap the No4, he accepted and I took the 1866 off the market. I think they will make a nice pair, Mick.

Mick, if that is an original 1866, then you did a very, very smart thing. You would have spent the rest of your life kicking yourself.

No it is a very old Uberti clone, bought over thirty years ago by a fisherman/cattle rancher in the Northern Territory when he bought a fishing boat. It has taken lots of sharks, crocs, buffalo and pigs, bit sad looking now, but the bore is good. Mick.

Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhh sorta. No engraving, lots of dings and plenty of pits from the tropics and sea. It sorta looks ok when you look quickly, but doesn't pass close muster, Internals are ok and that's what matters.

I'm away from home at the moment, this is the best pic I have.

Just uploaded a pic to my photobucket account via dial up, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

Can't wait to get home and back on broadband! It looks like it could do with a bit of elbow grease and a rust blue.

One of the new shooters who was using a plated 94 commemorative, asked me how I stopped the finish wearing on the corners :-D. He is now saving up for one of these suckers (poor man).
