Does anybody know any good 16 ga. turkey loads on the market? I load all my rifle and handgun loads, but have never loaded shotgun. I really don't need this because I've got a good 12 ga., but just wondered because I've got an old Win. 37 28" full choke. It always shot great. It would be good to about 30 yards on turkeys. Most all loads I see for 16 are 1 1/8 ounce. Thats not a lot of shot. The 3" 20 ga. has 1 1/4 ounce.

90% of the Turkeys I have killed with a shotgun, could have been taken with 1 1/8oz of #6's out of my 16. Of the remaining 10%, Most if not all could have been taken with the 16, if I'd waited a bit longer. If the Doc gives me the OK, that is what I'll be hunting with this year.

If you can call turkeys a 410 will do the job just fine. I will be using a 16 with 1 1/8 oz of shot again this year and it's always worked fine for me. I hold my shots to under 35 yards and have yet to lose one. BUT my Model 11 Remington with the FULL FULL choke would probabl;y do the job to a full 40 yards. MY biggest gobbler was killed at 15 yards with a flintlock smooth bore with 1 1/4 oz of shot and 82 grains of FFG and I thought that was a heck of a heavy load.

Well I'm glad to see the standard 16 ammo is ok. This old gun of mine belonged to my father. I think he'd be proud that I took it turkey hunting.
