Team.

What do you think? Kind of like those breaching rounds that have a rod out front to trigger the round so it fragments in front of a door.

Actually, I was casting hollow points and forgot to put the HP pin in the mould. [smilie=1:

My first thought was "What the .... !"

Good one Jeff.

Not bad casting though. All the way down into the pin void!

Say, I'm getting back on my feet now. Do you still want that other mold modified?

What a way to increase the sectional density of the bullet...

I was wondering how you did it. What rifling twist do you think that bullet would require to fly straight!
Does the hollow point make a difference in that bullets performance? (does it open up well)

Does it open up! Oh Lord yes. The bullets are 55gr and departing my company at 2300fps. Rabbits and hares literally rattle after being hit. The original RN bullet is just an OK killer. The HP is outstanding.

still think we should try it [smilie=1:

Your bullet looks like it is cold and needs a jacket. Either that or that is a two diameter bore riding bullet for real deep rifling.

Mine had the pin in, it just slipped as I didn't get it twisted enough to catch.

So you were working on something. Possibly a little more experimenting before you take it to market.

JeffinNZ At 2300 (I will asume F/s not M/s) that is faster than my midrange load of 1750 Feet/second for the .223 Remington. I make this load to reduce3 noise it is quite effetive but the core has remarkable penetration. The bullet is a spent Musket cap copper or brass ran though a die to make it a cylinder (die for making 22 RF into jackets) then swage a lead core into it. The jacket sheds shortly after impact while core has the penetration so I get both shock and vitals are damaged/destroyed on animals to about thirty pounds. I was shooting a muzzle loading league and thought these (percussion caps) might make good low velocity jackets and they work well for me. Now you have me thinking about a 22 mold? I also have a Remington XP-100 pistol in 221 Fireball that would use cast and swaged bullets I just have not started yet.

Are boolits rutting south of the equator?

Ditch the chronographs--these boolits have pitot tubes.

is that a gun in your pocket or are you just happy to see me is what came to my mind initially. lol. i think that you are going to have a hard time getting that into any magazine though. plus, the protrusion is so long and slender, i seriously believe it will bend if you are lucky, or break off upon firing. if it breaks off, it could jam between the boolit and the wall. which might cause a bore obstruction. i dont think i would chance fireing it. i would however, keep it and display it with my cartridge collection. it would make a great conversation peice.
