I have been loading my 32-20 with 14.0gr 1680 and 9.0gr 5744 and seem to be getting hotter loads than the Ultramax ammo I have shot on occasion. So.....I pulled the Ultramax and this is what I saw.
The 115gr bullet is identical to the Meister cast 115gr 32-20 bullet, right down to the lube color.
The powder weighs 3.0 grains and looks like Winchester 231.
Same volume of the 231 weighs the same 3.0 grains.
Anyone else know what the powder and primers are in the Ultramax 32-20 ammo?
They shoot great in my 1873 rifle.
Out of curiousity I just pulled the head on an Ultramax 45LC with 250gr bullet.
Again it is a twin to the Meister cast and the powder weighs 6.0gr of what looks like 231.
BUT primers look to be CCI or some other silver primer cup.
