I just got a good deal on a S&W M66. It has some cylinder play in it and would like to clean it up. I will be taking it to a smith but would like an idea what needs to be done as I've moved and don't know any of the smiths in the area.
Spring and such I can do in my work shop but this type of work I've never attempted before.
Any and all info would be appreciated.
P.S.the play isn't that bad, though I havn't tried boolets in it yet. condom type do ok. there's just more play than I like.

You might want to get a manual:

Just scroll down to S&W. The price is low and I have used this manual for several years. It is truly worthwhile. If you have good hands, a lot of revolver repairs can be done yourself.

By all means get a good reputable manual. Brownells sells shim kits to remove end shake and it is not too tough to do. Shooting times had a good article a couple months back that detailed the task nicely
