The CZ-52 is a true .308 bore. Some "J" word bullets are .309. I cast the lee 100 grainer, as cast runs .310, I size to .309. It shoots them as good as the jacketed, which is poorly. I never slugged the bore, just one of those things I never got around to. Actually I just use it for a blasting gun with WC-820, huge fireball and loud boom! With the poor sights, and sloppy fit, it will never be a target gun.

I have a 1958 CZ52 (single punch mark on slide). I use a 112gr 311316 bullet cast from WW, water quenched and aged for a week. Sized to .308 (Lyman Lubrisizer). Lubed with a 1:1:.5 ratio of (red rooster lube, Blue Angel, Lyman super Moly). Seated at max COAL, 4.7 gr Scot 453, CCI pistol primer. Very accurate, easy on brass, 1100 ft/sec, no flash, comfortable recoil. No leading. Completely reliable.

Geez, I thought there would be more discussion about more loads.

As someone has already stated you need to slug your bore to be sure but CZ-52 bore is usually pretty tight and somewhere in the 0.308"-0.309" size range. I have several all but one of which is in that range. I size my boolits to 0.310" for my loads all except the Lee 90gr. SWC tumble lube boolit mold where I just load those as cast.

All my CZ-52's are superbly accurate. My best one is capable of printing 3" groups at 50 yards off the bench using sand bags with the original iron sights. I hunt with it and have taken deer with it one of which is a little beyond 100 yards on a broad side chest shot. I don’t hunt deer with the cast load for it though, use the Hornady 90gr. HP bullets for my deer hunting loads over a maximum charge of H-110. Killed plenty of prairie dogs with cast boolit loads for them though. Load the cast boolit loads mainly with full case compressed loads of IMR-4227.

awesome my cz is very accurate also must have gotten a good one i have lots of the corrosive ammo for it but im too lazy to clean it often enough , shame on me ... so i want to cast non corrosive loads , have had trouble crimping on the hornady bullets want to push into the case sometimes so i want to do lead a little larger say 310 or so to snug up the fit

I picked up a CZ 52 today, been looking at 2 of them for months at a LGS and nobody pays any attention to them I was told. I already had some cast loads for the Romanian TT-C ready that I had just finished working up so cleaned up the gun and tried them out. Worked just fine. Can't give much of an accuracy report, still trying to get used to it. Very interesting gun.

Here was the load

Brass = S&B
Bullet = Lee 311-100-2R
Allow = COWW+ 3% tin
Lube = White Label 50/50
Sizing .313 then nose sized .311 ### This was done for the TT-C ###
Powder = Green Dot, 4.3 grains
Primer = CCI
OAL = 1.380
Average Speed = 1138 fps

I had problems with the lee .309 90 grain with chambering. My bore was tight .308.

I tried several different solutions, which worked with varying degrees of success.

I think the real problem was the lead contacting the rifling before the slide was fully into battery.

Then I found the little Lee .314 90 grain truncated cone boolit. Sized to .309 and loaded my problems all went away.

I suspect if your chamber is a bit more forgiving, rifling a bit looser, the round nose works.
But if you are having troubles with it look at the truncated cone.

About the time I solved my problems I said screw this **** and bought 250 rounds of Privi Partizan hollow points.

Shrug

I like playing with things but after a while frustration takes its toll.

In Czech M52's (REALLY neat pistols) GONRA has used:
102 grain .313 inch diameter Lyman 31356S (special only 2 lube grooves) Pure Alox lube bullets,
1.361 inch cartridge OAL, 6.5-6.7 grains SR 4756 powder,
RWS#4521 4.5mm diameter Berdan primer
in Czech 7.62 Tokarev once fired (single flash hole) brass.

In my CZ52 I use Accurate 31-087T casting wheelweights so that they drop frosty from the mold, quenching in water. I lubricate with 45-45-10 from LSStuff and size bullets .311".
I load 5.5 grains of Bullseye and Federal 200 primers in Starline brass. Velocity is 1420 fps, they shoot to the sights and are more accurate than PPU Ball ammo.

I like the way that bullet design looks. That could be in my future.

I use the same bullet in .32 ACP, no need to quench, 5.5-5.6 grains of Alliant #2400, 900+ fps in Colt 1903 Pocket Hammerless, CZ27, Walther PP, Beretta 1935, Walther HSc, etc. Get .380 ACP energy from a .32!!!

I like the way that bullet design looks. That could be interpreted future.

That looks like the "original" Keith (Belding & Mull) design, but with TL grooves.

And btw I'm using the Accurate 36-155D (same design) in 9mm and .38, and I like it too.

Tom's modernized Belding & Mull ogival wadcutters are terrific! There is a whole "family" of them in various calibers from .30 to .45

I've been reloading for my Yugo Tok and have my first successful batch of cast 93 grain .312 as cast. The dummy I made drops in the Tok barrel perfectly. But when I try it in my CZ 52, it won't go in all the way. The CZ barrel slugs at .310. If I assume the chamber on the CZ is the problem, do I size down to .308 or .309? I haven't bought the Lee sizer die yet.

I have a 1939 Russian Tok and a CZ52, both of which have about .313 bores. I make a 3/4 jacketed 85 gr swc bullet at .314 using 50BMG primers for the jacket and an old Swag-O-Matic with home made dies. I have to neck turn the brass because neither gun will chamber with boolits any bigger than .3105. It's tough working with loose bores and tight chamber necks. Initial testing shows good accuracy but I need to test a little better.

I ordered the 31-087T and it showed up Monday. I got the mold seasoned and cast several hundred this morning from COWW +2% tin. They are measuring .3135 to .314. I pushed one through the bore and it measured ~ .3115 out the other end so I sized mine .313 and gave them a before/after coat of LLA. The Lee seating die body had an issue and was interfering with any bullet over .311 so I was having issues with bullets pulling back out of the cases a little bit as I lowered the ram on the press so needed to put some sand paper on a drill bit shank and open up the die body enough that it stopped digging into the bullet while seating. They then got passed to the Lee collet crimp die. Looks very good. I think I set the OAL to 1.275 on the dummy loads and they cycled manually in the CZ 52 without issue. Surprisingly, they dropped into the chamber of the Romanian Tokarev without issue. The Lee 311-100-2R I was using was too large for the throat even with sized .311, yet the grove diameter on that gun is .313. We'll see if it shoots any better. The taper in the profile of the 31-087T from .312.to .300 must be why it is easily fitting into the Romanian Tok without interference. Can't wait to work up a load. I had gotten to a load of 5.0 grains of Green Dot with the Lee 311-100-2R which was good for 1243 fps. I suspect I'll start at 5.0 grains on the 87 grain pill and see where it goes.
