I shoot the 240gr Keith out of my Redhawk for silhouette shoots. I really like that bullet - tried it in a Blackhawk (fellow competitor let me try his) last weekend with equally good results...

I have several .44 magnums (some Rugers and some Smiths). I use the Lyman 429421 (in my case the quite similar H&G #503 clone from a Mihec mould) and for practice loads in .44 mag cases, run 23.0 grs of H110/296 for about 1200 fps. For hunting, I run 24.0 grs of H110/296 for 1300 fps chronographed. Lyman lists 25.0 grs as maximum.

This is a good all 'round bullet and load. It will shoot clear through a large whitetail deer, end for end at 100 yds and beyond.

18g of Alliant 2400 should work well in all, but I'd go to 9g of Green Dot for the H&G 185g WC.
These loads have proven accurate for me with these and similar boolits, and are easy on both guns and shooters!

I shoot the 429244 and the 429421 in my Ruger SBH (and my D. Wesson, 629, and Contender) Don't know what the "AT" stands for; my mold is an older Ideal. Air cooled Wheel Weights over Unique, Bluedot, or WC820 depending on which gun and how I feel...

OH OH !!!! I know this one. Just yesterday I was shooting my 10" SBH in preparation for bear baiting season which starts today.
I dont like to holster this LONG TOM so put on a barrel band sling stud and another stud on the bottom of the pistol grip. Now I can sling it over my shoulder and ride my bike to the stand. That worked out really good.
Anyway yesterdays shooting proved that for my gun 24gn 296 with a WLP primer and a Lyman 429215 HPGC was out shooting everything else I tried by a good margin.
Using a 4" bull I was able to keep most shots in the bull at 100 yards using the factory sights. My last cylinder of 5 shots put 4 in the black and 1 just outside. For me thats as good as it gets. From my stand to the bait is about 40 yards so should be good to go.

I shot 429421 and 25/296 for Silhouette.

I have all three of those Lyman molds but I hate to spend money on gas checks for plinking. I use the 429421 with 6.7 gr. of Bulls Eye and can shoot a box or two without much fatigue. Accurate enough to hit bowling pins at 150 yards, if I do my part right. WW+2% tin air cooled, sized to .431"

I don't have this exact bullet, I use WC's from Penn Bullets.
I have used as little as 3.5 grs. of w-231, mag. case, LP primer and w/ good light can get 1 big hole at 25 yds. & 6 shots.
My usual groups are 1" or less wide x 1" or a lil better tall (too much rear sight fuzz).

I'd suggest the 429421 or various clones...the classic 44 boolit...over "cowboy loads" as a starter. Start low and work your way up to your comfort zone. I shoot 44 Magnum VAQUEROS on a daily basis, but favor loads in the 900-to-1000 feet per second area.

The gas checked boolits prevent leading, but are an un-necessary expense for lower end loads.

While your SUPER BLACKHAWK has adjustable sights, you may run out of adjustment for non-standard boolit weights like the H&G 185 grain wadcutter. I have a 200 grain group buy mould and a 250 grain version of LYMAN 429352 that I also like AND am on the list for MIHEC's 230 grain hollow base 44 wadcutter. NOE also has a group buy going for a "tri-weight wadcutter" in 44, but I'd suggest staying close to standard weight boolits. Needless to say, I really like full wadcutters in a 44 for target use.

Buy some cast bullets in the various weights and see what suits you best...then invest in a quality mould.
