I just slugged my barrel 1" from the chamber and it was at .312.

I am assuming a boolit size of .313 or .314 should be ok.

Please keep in mind my pockets are not very deep but I do not see a Lee mold that I could use.

Also, would the Lee die set #90731 with the .313 expander button be ok for reloading purposes?

I want to use GC's and use the rifle for my 16 year son old to hunt deer and hogs with, so would std. 30 cal checks work? Seems they may be a little small to seat properly. Could annealing help?

Tumble lubing is the method I currently use on my .308 & .45 and would like to continue if possible.

Any suggestions?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

The traditional Mosin boolit is the 31x299 - with the X at whatever bullet diameter you need.... so I would pick the 314299.... Just beware that modern Lymans seem to be casting a hair undersize..... like the one I bought last month....

You could probably get away with most any rifle boolit designed to work in the 303 Enfield or the SKS and sized at 0.314" diameter so long as it will actually chamber into your rifle....

...............The Lyman 314299" would be my suggestion also. It's the only mainline mould design out there that supposed to be a fat "Fat 30" that fits if your pockets aren't too deep. You should also check with BABore of BRP moulds and SwedeNelson of NOE moulds. Both Vendor Sponsers, both outfits produce a truly outstanding product for just a little more then a Lyman would set ya back and be a better product to boot.

'Nother possibility might be the ol' reliable Lee 312-185-1R. From my experience and what's been posted here, most of these seem to drop right around .313 with straight WWs. If that's a little small for your bore, you can always "beagle" the blocks or lap out the individual cavities to the size you need. Check the stickies for "beagling" and "leementing" or just run a search "Lee 312-185."

Oh yeah, both Lee's 185 grainer and their TL312-160-2R shoot quite well in my 91/30...either will easily group better than ball ammo out to 200M.
