I was given about 100 lbs. of lead pipe and one of the boxes had some "coins" in it that are about the size of a silver dollar. The guy that had them was a plumber, is it safe to assume these are tin?

I didn't cast these, they have a little oxidization on them, so I can't tell just how shiny they are.

If he was a plumber, then it's doubtful they are tin. Probably 50/50 solder at best.

Pure tin can be any color from bright silver to gold to purple depending on the amount of heat applied to it and the mold temps. When I melt 30 pound batches the first ones pour out bright silver then as the level drops in the pot and the temp increases they turn gold and finally come out gold and purple. Tin is weird in the aspect of its color changing ability.
