I shoot a lot of 5.56mm out of several “Frankenguns” I have built out of miscellaneous parts.

One of the problems I have had to deal with is the practical packaging of “Ready Ammo”.

It turns out that regular, plain, old 2 ¾” 12 gauge boxes are the PERFECT size for holding 120 rounds of 5.56mm in stripper clips!!

….And once they are painted a nice, neutral color, …..It even looks like you know what you are doing!!

Just another suggestion from "The King Of The Cheap"!!! :bigsmyl2::bigsmyl2:

Awesome, Kent! Perfect application, and I'm sure no shortage at the local skeet and trap club.

Is it possible to simply turn them inside out to get the neutral color?

Sure! ...But that means re-gluing two seams; ......And I had four cans of "sand" colored spray paint that was busy doing nothing!

I just went out to the shop and removed the empty shotgun shell boxes from the trash can. Thanks for the tip!

Great idea, I'll have to put that one to use and I just picked up a couple dozen empty boxes at the local club.

When I first started reloading I p/u allot of those boxes along with the carton that would hold four boxes to keep brass in. I now have plastic boxes for that but still keep my excess brass in them. I mark on the outside with a marker what is inside. You can for a small cost buy the blank boxes from places like midway if you want a plain box. Also a sandwich size zip lock fits in the box perfect if you want to keep the dust out.
That is a good tip though, I never thought of using them for the finished product and it doesn't take up much space either.

I have been using the 25 round shotshell boxes for 223 in stripper clips for years. I usually put a mag charger in the box with the stripper clips too. Bought a bunch of them when they were five for a dollar at the local gun show. Looong time ago!
