Ive broke down again! This time its a broken firing pin. Wheres the best place to buy a new one? As for the broken one, i think i can tig weld a peice of drill bit onto the old firing pin. Question#2,,, anybody know what the protusion out of the bolt nose is? maybe you could measure yours? Its the tip that broke on mine, and i will weld on a new piece, but dont know what lenth to end up at. thanks. Does the origonal winchesters break parts like this thing? With the problems im having,i dont see how the cowboy shooters keep them running!

Rossi firing pits are too hard. I had my smithy make one from scratch, and to compensate for softness I asked him to make it bigger in diameter and refit to the action. Perfect job, but a little too long because it does break open some primers when the load is a little warm. Solution: rub down the pin, or use softer loads. Pick the latter for cowboy action. ... felix

I broke mine and just silver soldered a new tip in. As Felix said the pins are too brittle and can stand an annealing. Easy job for any smith. The firing pin protrusion is supposed to be standardized at something like .080. Real life tells me easch rifle is a law unto itself. Aim for it to be a bit long and fit it from there til you're happy.
