some of you might know that I'm building a 50 Razor Back. its a 300 REM ultra mag case cut to 2.375 long and stuffed with a .510 bullet. the case dementions end up being the same as a 50 Alaskan just the case is .275 longer. Will a 50ak die set still work even though the case is longer? if any of you could measure the depth of your 50ak dies I would be in your debt.

My .50 Alaskan cases are formed from .348 Winchester and measure 2.10".

I didn't know the Ultra Mag series had the same head diameter as the .50 Alaskan. If that dimension is compatible, then the .50 Alaskan dies should work.

Will I be able to full length size a 2.375 long case?

Yes, you will, just maybe not the last 1/4" of the case head. Doubt it would be a problem.

Perhaps you should consider using 50/110 dies. Same base and bullet diameter as 50 Ak but case is 2.40" long.

My Hornady 50 AK dies measure 2.210" from bottom of sizer to inside step, the shell holder measures .120" from top of the holder to the bottom of where the base would be. Which should give you a mean of 2.340" OAL.

I was looking at the 50-110 win but then the price of dies turned me away. seams like the price hovers around 270 bucks for 50-110 dies. where 50AK dies are about 70 bucks, which is a much more attractive price lol. thanks stubshaft, thats just the measurement i was looking for. seams like the 50AK dies will work just fine i just will have to make sure i don't run them all the way down to the shell holder. but the 50RB case has a tall extractor groove. which i measure to be about .180 from the bottom of the case. so i can full length size as the die can be run all the way down the case just not all the way to the shell holder.
