So I've started going through some of my dads things and I find these 6, 20-30 pound bars of something called Kirk Site (its stamped into the bars) does anyone know anything about it? It "looks" like a lead alloy but seems like it may be kinda hard. I would have thought if it were worthwile he would have used it for something, but I can't recall him ever telling me not to use it. I figure with the knowledge base here I would find all I need to know before I could research it on my own, I'm gonna be busy for a while helping out my mom.

thanks, az-jim

It's a zinc based alloy. Probably not used in bullet casting.
It's Kirksite all one word. Common casting alloy with many applications.

Zamak 2 is also known as Kirksite when gravity cast as for use a die

It looks like it is close to:
4% aluminum
3% copper
93% zinc

Hi-point firearms pistol slides and carbine recievers are made of it. It must be pretty tough.

I believe people use zinc to cast cannonballs. You could try selling it in the S&S section.
