Yep, I bought myself a brandnew model 95 takedown in 405 win. Would like to hear recommendations for boolits, moulds, loads etc. Am willing to swap or pay for cast boolits.

NEI has a good selection of 405 molds. A friend bought what you have and wanted a gas check boolit, He just got the mold 2 weeks ago and is very happy. He is pushing it about 1900-2000 fps.

Look here

page 9 in the catalog.

Have Fun Shooting,
Jon

RCBS makes a special order 300 gr GC mold that casts out about 0.4115" to 0.412" if I remember right that is very accurate in my 40-50 BN and should fit the 405 pretty well. I don't know if its quite big enough for your rifle though.

A friend of mine has one that he bought an NEI mold that casts boolits at around 300 gr as I recall. He used it at our last long range cowboy match and it shot better than I thought it wood. Then again my buddy is a really good shot not an also ran like I am. He cast his boolets from WW and pure lead and pushed them at about 1500 with AA5744. His boolet was a plain base design as he also whats to shoot black in his gun and he likes PB boolets for that use.

Congrats on the new rifle, Bruce! One of those "shoulda/woulda/coulda's" from several years back was an original version reblued very well, solid receiver version for $1500. I balked at the price, which in retrospect was unwise. There are 2 others I know of locally--remakes in 30-06 and 30-40........that make me feel wistful once in a while. That 30-40 especially.

Oh, My! Brings up bad memories of the old days in Watertown. It wasn't a takedown, but it was an original 1895 in .405, and in Very good shape. At a small gun show not far from where I lived in, actually just outside, Theresa.

The man wanted $700.00 for it and I had about $200, and no plastic.:( This was in ~ 1987 or maybe '88.

I try not to think about those type of missed opportunities too often as it affects my blood pressure.

Good to hear of your new addition and best wishes getting it shooting straight!:drinks:

ammohead.......it is my understanding from what I have read that they need (the miroku ones) a .413" boolit...When I get around to shooting mine (just like yours) I plan on sizing down the RCBS .416 boolit.....but first I must slug the barrel......:)

Where do you get the gas checks for those bullets? I'm wondering if the bullet would fit in my .40-82, sized to .410.

Gators or the Hornady 416 checks work fine.
