How do you measure drams? I want to load some shells for an old damascus, that's definitly shootable, a load like 3 dram equivelent, 1 to 1 1/8 ozs shot, and I am guessing FFG powder..................steg

Here's a website I use when something strange pops up such as when I was reading an article about 4 bore guns and wanted to see how long a 1 lb can of my FFG would last!? (NOT very long!)

There's a funny thing about the dram.
It can be a weight, and there are two kinds. Interestingly, the apothecarie's dram weighs exactly 60 grains.
But then, a dram can also be a volume. In that instance, it is equal to an eighth of an ounce of liquid.
With three kinds of dram to choose from, it looks like a guessing game to pick the right one for creating a powder charge.
