Today it got over 60 degree here for the first time and the crickets started coming out. They're about 3 lb or so, past two years I've been using 25-20 in Marlin and wonder what anyone else uses for big crickets that come out around the first of April. Later I'll switch to 25-35 when the grasshoppers come out the creek bottoms and start laying eggs in the orchards. Anyone else with stopper cartridges and loads for April bugs would love to hear about some of the pests and trophies you've taken.

If it's short range you can't beat one of those 410 revolvers loaded with BBs. But if it's a trophy, there's not much left after the chitinous exoskeleton grenades.

I use a .32 round ball with a couple of hollow point(s) and a gas check. The two lube groves intersect at 90º angle, one traversing the diameter North/South diameter and one East/West, for lack of a better description.

Look for this one to show up in a group buy, If I can get a drawing.

I call them into range.

Thanks all, a little humor sure goes long ways and when mixed with a dab of imagination it makes for great readin 'n smilin.

Have great spring and wish all safe casting.

The only way to be sure is to nuke them from orbit...something in the 40-megaton range works really well.

When the stink bugs start swarming, nothing is better than phasers set to de-materialize.

I have a 54 cal BP Lyman Great Plains with 150 grains of 777 and a 300 grain boolit should at least get their attention. Just don't hit them in the head it might ricochet.

Kidding aside, my most blooded gun is a .22 Crossman air pistol. Yellow Jackets and their nests get removed from the uppermost reaches of my eaves. Roaches become fun. Mice become big game.

I've shot it since my Junior High days in the 70's. It gets new seals every few years. I think every shooter should have a good .22 air gun for such serious work (fun).

We have Frogs. I live near a river bed and as soon as it gets wet the frogs come out. You can't even hear yourself think at night.

My go to gun for this is my 1895 Marlin in .45-70.

These are some damn big frogs and they bite too!
