know what the procedures or protocol is when a ffl transfer is called in
where does the person making the call for background check, call ?
would that intell not be public information as well ?
no ss # just a state dl # ......curious [smilie=2:
As I understand it the weapon is sent to the dealer listed on the ffl that is used by the seller that you have provided, then you go to him when he receives it and then it is processed as a sale and that's where and when the background check is initiated, at least thats the way it works in Pennsylvania ...........steg

If it is just a transferr , you bought a gun and had it transferred to the dealer for you to pick up ?
Then the call would be the same as if the person bought a gun out of stock
So here in Ohio , it would be NICS ....FBI I believe
SS# not needed , just a state ID or drivers license
But we have found it sometimes helps to avoid a delay if you put the SS# on the form
Only people that ever know the info on the 4473 are the FFL , NICS and BATF if they run a check
And no it isn't public information

Some states use the Feds... NICS....Pa does them themselves...PICS. If it's held or denied the FFL isn't told the reason why but does tell you who to call/write to try and get it overturned which is a long difficult procedure.
