I just purchased a S&W mod 29-2 8-3/8 nickle and it has a few spots on it that if it were brass I would call it oxidisation. Is there any to polish this out?

Thanks,
Donnie

Try a little Flitz on it.

There is a current thread in the S&W Forum /Hand Ejectors: 1896 to 1961 that addresses in detail your question.

I read that brass or bronze wool is a must to avoid damaging any of the bluing that is still intact. It will not scratch or remove any existing blue finish.

The gun is nickle, not blued. 0000 steel wool works for blue and is what is used to card a newly blued gun.
Nickle is damaged by some gun solvents and can flake or peel. Nothing can be done in that case except to re-finish. Going to blue is always best and S&W can remove the nickle and apply the great blue job.
If the plating is intact and just discolored, it can be cleaned but it is hard to discolor the metal. Usually, it is coming loose.
