Hi All, I'm a new guy. I shoot .357 and .44 mags. I like the Keith style bullets. I have some WW571 on hand and would like to know if anyone has a pet load for either of these calibers. I have mostly shot H110 in the past. Thanks, Gary

W571 is HS-7, and there are still loads for it in manuals and online, even though the powder has been discontinued.

He is telling you that Hodgdon produced the 571 for Winchester and it is simply their HS-7 with a different label. So you can use your supply of 571 in any loads that call for HS-7. Use common sense and work up to heavy loads as you would anyway.

Winchester 540 is the same as HS-6.

Actually St Marks manufactures the ball powders marketed under Hodgdon and Winchester brand names. And for the last several years, Hodgdon distributes the Winchester brand as well.

I don't think Hodgdon manufactures any powders themselves other than Pyrodex.

I have shot it a little already. I just thought someone might have a load they used so that I would have an idea what others were doing. I have some old loading manuals that have data for ww571 and HS7. I know they are the same ie: 296 and H110

It doesn't answer any question about 357 or 44 Mag loads, but if you happen to have a 357 Sig semi auto, Win 571 works wonderful. Super accurate, clean burning and very low flash/boom. I only have a pound left and am saving it strictly for the Sig. Run 9.5 with jacketed bullets and 9.2 with cast and you will be happy.
BTW, I shoot the Lee 358-125 RF (new style) in the Sig and they are more accurate than the jacketed bullets. Just a light taper crimp works super. Sorry about the off topic post.

has several older Hodgdon and Winchester manuals that should have some data for you.
