I just tried it tonight for the first time. I'm an old beeswax and match kinda guy, so I have a question to pose.
I followed the instructions and stirred and mixed as it melted and foamed. After about 2 minutes, I had a grey foam on top that was sizzling and would not mix in . I scraped it out and it solidifed in my dross bowl.
My question is, is this the dross, or my tin and antimony? Never had seen quite the fizzy show before. I did save it so if need be, I can add it in.
Cheers and thanks,
Rick

The foam is dross.
That stuff soaks up moisture and holds it be careful putting your spoon back in the alloy.

I used to use Marvellux, but now just use regular old sawdust. It's cleaner to use and I believe it does a better job. The only problem is it does smoke, but if you use oak sawdust, it smells good.
I still have a couple of jars of Marellux around here somewhere, but I doubt it will get much use anymore.
Hope this helps.

I bought a large container of Marvelux and it absorbed so much moisture I threw it away. I use scrap , lubed boolits or mall pieces of lube for flux now.

I bought 4 jars of Marvelux when it was on sale a long time ago. When I tried to use it, the mess it created on the sides of my pot was unacceptable. It worked OK as a flux, but was just too messy. Several years casting and finally using sawdust for flux, got the last of it off the insides of my Lyman furnace.
The Marvelux less about 3 tablespoons is still in an ammo can. Guess the Ammo can is now worth more than whats in it.

I tried some that I got with my last Midsouth order. I am with the other guys, back to saw dust. I cut a bunch of cherry bowl blanks on the band saw a little while back. Sweet smell of cherry in the air now when I cast!
