Here's a thread that should be useful to you:

http://www.castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=10974

I use the Hornady Hollow Base Wad Cutter over 2.0 grs of Bullseye.

I am shooting the Lee Group Buy 100 gr. .32 Keith (similar to the RCBS bullet) over 3.0 grs of Bullseye. You can use 3.2 of Win 231 for about the same effect.

Kenai-
I haven't tried the Bullseye yet, I had been shooting Red Dot, 2.5 gr w/a 94 gr LRNFP, until a buddy gave me a pound of old 473AA that needed to be used up. I've also shot some Unique loads; I want to try some Bullseye with my new 98K GB mould, but I only managed to cast around 100 before it got too cold to cast.

.............I have an article from "Handloader" magazine about that cartridge and pistol. Actually it's about the 32 S&W and the 32 S&W Long and that pistol. He wanted it for a woodsbumming and pot shooting handgun. He also had it milled for, and had S&W adjustable rear sights put on it.

For each cartridge he used 5-7 bullet types (cast and jacketed). If you're interested I can can post some of the load data and velocities he got. I believe the pistol had a 3" bbl? With both cartridges, cast slugs did the best for both accuracy and velocity. Hard to believe but he had a slug moving at 1008 fps and that was from the .605" long 32 S&W :-). I think top velocity from the Long was 1120 fps.

Also if you have a fax number I'd be glad to fax you the article.

Been handloading the .32 S&W-L for many years and "progressed" from BE to W231 and am now using WST (Winchester Super Target) because of grain size and uniformity. Any of the 3 powders should produce cloverleaf groups at up to 25 yards with the right bullet (90 - 100 grain).

I'd like to try the Finnish Vita Vuorhi powders, but cost and availability are negative factors.

Buckshot,

I'd sure like to see the data. Can you post it here or scan the article and post a link to it? Don't want to get you arrested by the copyright police, though.

Thanks,
Doc

Its about using 115 gr. cast Boolits in the .32 S&W Long. I load them for a Ruger .32 Vaquero and my old Smith & Wesson .32 Hand Ejector (pre-model 30). I got a lot of good feedback-- folks very helpful on these sites. Enjoy the 'Smith, they're dandy little guns!

............I don't have a scanner, but first I'll try to take a picture of the load data. If that doesn't work I'll try to type it in. We'll have to see as it might be installments as he had a bunch.

BTW, Joe Salter at: http://www.joesalter.com/index.html had listed a couple M31's in 32 S&W Long. Of course maybe the M31's were ONLY IN 32 S&W Long :-)?

I just checked and the M31-1 with a 2" bbl is $450.00 being sold 'As New' with box, papers and tools. There was another with a 4" bbl I remember but didn't look any further down the list.

Merry Christmas fellas, Sorry about not gettin back withya, Buckshot i've been out on the chain and am now home,Dutch Harbor shur is nasty this time of year we had winds of 90+ mph ,glad thats over with.My daughter comes in today for the holidays she'll be tickeled pink when she opens her present .That little 32 is the cats meow. The only problem is it prints about 6 inches high at around 30 ft using the 85 gr hornadys and 3.0 of W231. I've never tried to regulate a load for a pistol without adjustable sights. I'd shur like to get a good load made up before she leaves.Theres 2 boxes of 100gr hornadys left in town i'll pick them up today and give them a try along with a different powder, jeez a pound of powder will last a life time.I don't have a fax Buckshot but i'd shur like to see some of those loads you talked about.

Take care all KK.

Try 95-100 grqin boolits at 700-750 FPS for a load that the revolver is regulated for--2.0 to 2.2 grains of Bullseye, 2.2 to 2.5 grains of WW-231. 2.5 grains of WW231 has become my "standard" 32 S&W Long load using the RCBS 98 grain SWC. This is mild enough for the old top-breaks in this caliber--it duplicates factory ammo intensity--VERY accurate, and anchors small game very well despite its lackluster velocity.
