So, guess that explains that...

So far, the sole 30 cal mould I have is a single cav Lee I picked up used at Kittery Trading Post. All I've cast with it is some pure lead slugs for the purpose of slugging my 03a3 and my 94. I thought they dropped exceptionally large from the mould (miked out at .314) and made great slug impressions thru the 03, and actually shaved a ring of lead around the 30-30 when slugging that. Which should have told me something

So it turns out this is the 90371, .312-185 Lee mould intended for .303 brit. I don't plan on this being my only 30 cal mould, the price was right when I picked it up. But since I was going to size to .311 anyway, has anyone tried using this in an 06? Due to rounded nose I wasn't planning on using it in the lever gun.

I'm presuming they'll drop a tad closer to dimension out of harder alloy but haven't tried it yet. But it does make very nice 30 cal slugging pills.

That boolit will work fine in the 06, just size it to .311 or so and you are good to go.

What Will said. I have a Win 670 with .311" throat, and sized to that spec the Lee .312-185 shoots GREAT in the 30-06. Its bore-rider nose is about .3015" or thereabouts, and is a draggy slip-fit into the lands. The Lee is its best boolit.

Haven't tried it in an '06 but have obtained pretty good performance in a .308 out to 200M. Matter of fact, it shot sufficiently "good" that I'd probably still be loading it if I hadn't picked up a mould for 200-grainer that shoots just a little better in that particular rifle.

Probably the best all-around mould I own, though, for .303 Brit and 7.65 Argie.
