Does anyone know a source? Hornaday and Privi seem to be gone or on backorder?
Thanks

Don't hold your breath waiting for those backorders to be filled. Instead, buy some of this: http://www.wideners.com/itemview.cfm?dir=18|830|855.

Eiither shoot it or pull the bullets and powder. Shoot it and you'll have fire-formed brass that will only require neck sizing.

If you run the math, I think you'll find that it's only about $5 more per hundred than new Prvi Partizan brass.

You can easily form 7.5 Swiss from .284 Win. (currently out of stock at Graf's but available at Midway). Just full-length size well-lubed .284 cases in your 7.5x55 die, trim to length, and load. In my experience, I seem to get better case life from the reformed .284s than from Privi 7.5 x 55.

I just shoot Prvi Partisan loaded ammo for brass these days. I've reformed .284 Win brass successfully but seldom find .284 Win brass for cheaper than loaded ammo.

I wouldn't count too much on neck sizing for a k31. Its never worked for us beyond once.

That's odd. I have never done anything but neck size with a Lee Collet and have several firings on my cases?

Agree 100%, same as my experience. I bought 7.5x55 Privi brass when it was cheap and available, but before those days, I reformed a lot of .284 brass. Still have it.

45-70bcr- Are you talking about with the K31? IME the K31 has nearly zero camming
power to close on an oversized case, unlike a Mauser or other similar turnbolt.
FL seems to be mandatory with the K31s.

I hate to think of you going to all that work when I have a bunch of once fired 7.5 that I'm not going to reload. This stuff is "FM", made in Portugal. I shot it, accuracy was just OK out of my 1911 and K31. Maybe you can do more with it; at least the head stamps will becorrect.
If you will pay for the cost of a priority mail small box, I will send you 40 cases in their boxes.
Interested?

Ya, I'm puzzled. I have never full length sized for my K-31 and don't have any trouble closing the bolt. I may bump it with my palm to lock over but not hard. I'm using a Lee Collet from a .303 brit die with a rod from a 30/06 collet die. 40-60may back cut the end of the collet for me so I don't have to run through an M die either. I shoot a mix of formed .284 win cases, Privi, and another kind I don't rememeber with a fairly stiff load of 31.0 Varget with the 311299 seated way deeper than it should be but it works. I'm still shooting my original cases that must have been reloaded 6 or 8 times? May have lost a couple but not many.
Now that I know it is not supposed to work I will probably have nothing but trouble :)

I never could just neck size mine. Always have to FL size them. Maybe if I had a collet die that might work but I don;t

31 Varget is pretty low pressure, I would expect. I use 4064, which is about identical to
Varget in speed and I use 42 gr for a moderate full power load, estimated at 2600 fps.

That is humping along! That nudges the GP11 velocity. What bullet? Bet it would make for a heck of a ram load. Mine is definately marginal at taking over the rams.

Thanks
