Just saw a (used)SBH Bisley 44 mag 4 5/8" bbl for sale. Looks like it has been shot very little. They are asking $659 for it. Tried to deal with them but that's their bottom line. Would have been a nice addition to the family. Guess I'll settle on a 44 spec Lipsey's.

Wow 4 5/8 now I could go for that. All we have around here in Wa. is 7.5" you need a set of wheels to drag that one around buy it you won't regret it gun prices are only going higher

You may just find that in a 4 5/8" tube that you really didn't lose all that much. In fact, it may just be the opposite.

I wasn't aware that Ruger ever made the Super Blackhawk Bisley in the 4 5/8" barrel length unless it was a distributor special, or something. They have made some .44 Specials with the Bisley grip frame in 4 5/8", and 5 1/2". The 44 Magnum Bisleys I've seen have all been 7 1/2".

I'm wondering if the barrel has been chopped; never seen a 4-5/8" Bisley. They made a few stainless .45 Bisleys in 5-1/2" for a distributor, but I've never seen a 4-5/8" Bisley from the factory.

Someone probably converted a 4 5/8 SUPER to a BISLEY. BROWNELLS had a parts kit...in the white for blue and also stainless...several years ago.

I had TWO stainless 5.5 inch SUPERS converted. Parts was $175; fit grip frame $70+; trigger job to 2.5 pounds by ALPHA PRECISION. Then I stumbled across a like new used ACCU-SPORT 44 BISLEY at a gun show for $400.

A used DRAGOON or HUNTER grip frame is a nice conversion also....done a bunch of Original Size VAQUEROS in 357 and 44 that way.

I wanted one so badly I got mine cut down by Terry Tussey. It is 5"now , soon to get a full length ejector housing. It cost me $375 to have the barrel cut down to 5", a Weigand removable front sight soldered to the barrel, the whole gun bead blasted and reblued and I then added a Bowen rear sight. And did the free spin pawl and trigger job at my shop.

I like it alot.

Then I found a new "Blackhawk Bisley" in .44 Spec for $475 that I had to have as a companion to the big guy. So I've got $1000 in one, and $475 in the other. go figure?

ive made up a couple myself in 41 44 and 45. Never was a production gun though. Closest thing was the fixed sighted vaquero in 44 mag. Allways said ruger was crazy for not making it a production gun. To me there isnt much better hunting gun made.

I'll bet Ruger could tell you the original configuration if you had the Serial # to e-mail to their Customer Service.

I know Ruger never made a 4 5/8 inch Bisley because back when I had mine, I wanted to have them convert mine to that length, and what I was told was that it would have constituted a custom gun and they didn't do that. Believe me, I have never understood why they didn't.

I have one of the stainless 5.5" revolvers in the back of my handgun safe. I can't remember the name of the company that had them made-up.

This gun has a blued finish. Very nice looking deep blue. It all looked like factory job though. I would have to look a little closer at it. I hate to do that because I would then want it. Have a SRH 7.5 and a SBH 5.5 already and I am going to get a Flattop 44 spl. I just have a "thing" for these Rugers! What do you guys think of a blued single six 32 h&r magnum 5.5". Another place has one and they are asking $550 but I know I can get the price down some there. I recently picked up the SBH 44 mag there for $400. Both the 44 I picked up and that 32 mag are in very nice shape.

If the bluing looks REALLY GOOD, it's been rebuilt by someone. The bluing Ruger has used for the last several years just isn't up to snuff.
