Just last week I received My 4/cav BRP 360640 mold. Everything about it is as near to perfect as I can imagine, and as far as I'm concerned nothing about it could be improved.

In order to do this mold the service it deserves, I need some help from those of you who have cast and loaded this boolit. What alloy and/or loads have you used with good success. For starters, I'll probably load for my 6"GP100 and follow up with a S&W M66. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much
Kirk

Kirk,

I cast the 360640 from 50/50 WW-Pb and water drop them. They come out at 20-22 bhn. I also tried the same alloy air cooled at 9-10 bhn to see if my gun preferred this boolit softer. For mid range to magnum loads, my 686 prefers them water dropped. Using CCI 500 primers, I've had very good results with Unique and Power Pistol for mid range loads and 2400 for a mag load. I mainly shoot the HP version with 14.3 grains of 2400. Accuracy is sub-inch at 50 yards and they are stable and accurate out past 400 yards. I haven't seen him around here for a while, but Dubber123 has one of the first molds of this and has had excellent sucess. Might want to PM him.

A good alloy for lower end .357 Magnum loads is 30% wheelweight and 70% pure lead, water dropped. This alloy hardens to equal Lyman #2, but is not brittle. My 686 loves this alloy (180 grn Keith boolit) over 13.5 grns 2400 with a CCI small magnum pistol primer. Shoots better than my meager skills.

Hope this helps,

Bruce and Matt: That is exactly the information I was looking for. Thank you both so very much. As far as your concerned Ted; (aka Leftyie), the only time my eyes cross is when YOU pull my chain.

I have just started loading this boolit in the .357 mag, but 14.0 grains of 2400 looks good.

In the .38 Spl., 5.5 grains of Power Pistol stays under 2" at 50 meters from my 6" K-38. (depending on how fuzzy my head is). This is THE best boolit for .38 Spl. I have found when the range gets past 25 yards.
