My boolits drop at .314 and I would like to try some as cast and not sized - however I would also like gas checks seated, if I purchase a .314 lee sizing die will the gas check get crimped as the boolit should pass straight through? Or will it not crimp the check in place without the resistance of the boolit being sized?

I'm only really just starting out so the Lee sizing push through dies are the only viable option at present, I cant see how it wouldcrimp them on but I will bow to your superior knowledge as always!

Depends on the dia. of the gas check shank.

If your using Hornady g/cs and they don't " click " on when fitted to the shank
of the bullet, I wouldn't expect them to crimp in place tightly.

Someone else may offer you a different view on the subject.

Thanks,

Ben

Try the die with the checks. If they are not tight enough for your liking use a slightest dab of cyanoacrylate (CA) on the bullet base before placing the check.

I have some Hornady checks that do click on nicely, I also have some Gator checks that seem a looser fit.

Gary, a very simple solution, thanks!
