I bought from this site a Herters Super Rifle and Pistol Half and Three Quarter Jacket bullet maker and it is missing the Die Locking Collar that fits on the ram. The casting appears to exactly duplicate the CH Swage-O-Matic press but the ram is a completely different design. I've e-mailed Dave and he e-mailed me back the schematic of the CH press.

If anyone has this could you give me enough information for me to have a local machine shop make a duplicate?

The gentleman who sold it to me had never gotten it up to use so he sold it to me in good faith and I bought it in good faith. I have no complaints, I'd just like to get it able to work.

Can you post a photo or sketch? I have an old collar I got with a Wwlls press that may work.

When I get to work this afternoon I can scan the schematic from Herters and post it. That's the best I can do. I have no way to measure internal threads.

Here are two pages from the copy of the manual I received with the press. I don't know how much good they will be, but this is the first of such a machine I have ever seen. I have nothing in my experience to compare.

7/8" x 20 tpi is the locking collar thread size to hold the die in the ram. The locking nut for the punch holder is 1 1/16" x 18 tpi.

If you enlarge the first pic it's item #18 that I need. I assume this is what you are calling "the locking nut for the punch holder"? If so, what is the internal cutout size? Is it a straight hole? Shouldered hole?

7/8" x 20 tpi is the locking collar thread size to hold the die in the ram.

That's the thread size for the part you ask for, part #18. The other thread size is for part #21.

You didn't mention anything regarding the remainder of the dimensions, I assumed you had them and were just interested in the thread size.

If you want a complete drawing, send me a PM. I could probably help.

Wayne, the locking nut measures 1 inch across the flats, it is 6 sided. It is .262" thick at the rim and .554" overall for length. Measured over the threads is .8745" with 14 tpi threads. The opening (hole) measures .7170", just enough to slip over the die.

If you need more info cantact me.

Ken, do I assume that the hole is not threaded, the threads are on the outside?

Wayne you are correct, the hole is just large enough for the die body to fit into. The nut screws into the frame holding the die in place.
