:coffee: -----What have you found to work good in the 308----Have 100gr---160gr---180 gr and 200gr. boolits---I generally like to use the 200s in the 308----what powders and loads do you suggest. For the most part I shoot at a steel plate at 180yrds.----Like to hear the thump on the plate.--------Mag

I would try the "The Load II" that works well in surplus military rifles.

It is 16 gr of Alliant 2400 pushing a cast boolit.

It shoots very well in my military rifles.

The thread about reloading for my M1A has a lot of data for starting points.

Search for "M1A" and the thread comes up near the top of the list. It's titled "7.62 NATO (.308 WCF) in the Springfield M1A" or something very close to that.

Although the loads were for an autoloader, there's a considerable number of bullets and powders used in my tests. I'm far from done, too....the thread will become current again in the near future.

I've had excellent luck in my 700 LVS .308 with 311332 185gr. and 19.2 grs of 4759, tried all kinds of other powders but none could equal above load, some groups of 1/2" at 100 yds.
