Does anyone have any experience Reloading Cast Bullets for the Springfield Armory XD in 45 Automatic? Thinking of getting one, but if it doesn't like a healthy diet of cast reloads, it's a no-go.

I have one and all the pistol has ever shot is cast. I use the lee 230 round nose tumble lube bullet and 4 grains of red dot powder. It seems to work fine for me,good plinkin load. It cycles good and doesnt lead the pistol.

I have one and like curdog it has only seen cast. I use the rcbs 230-rn and just had Tom at accurratemolds.com make up a 200 gr. rn nose for it the 45-200b is the model number. Both are lots of fun and feed great in the xd

I have one I shoot with cast. It likes most anything with a little work.

The newer XDM line has a small lip on the slide that is to help with feeding SWC's. Also the factory magazine springs can be/get weak and give you issues later on, but can be replaced with either wolf or AGP springs to remedy this.

I have the older 45 XD 5" tactical and it's been a very dependable firearm. I replaced my 13 round springs shortly after buying them and have never looked back. I've feed mine round nose and TC style boolits and now this:

They don't shoot bullets with a shoulder like the popular #68 SWC.
Shoulders hang on the front lip of magazine due to the low position of the bore for ergonomics. All this means is you can’t shoot bullets that cut nice round holes in paper targets. I’ve a Magma 200 grain RNFP revolver bullet to shoot in them. Then any of the 230 grain RN or TCFP bullets work for heavies.

Couldn't have said it better. This is what I loaded for my brother's XD when he had it. Using the traditionally shaped 200gr. SWCs it was a manually operated pump gun.

BRP's 453640 with a huge HP and to give you an idea of how huge the HP's are, the meplat is .320". It's been the most accurate boolit I've shot to date in any 45 auto I've reloaded for.

Also, the Lee 200gn RNFP (452-200-RF) feeds very well. I cast and shot over 2000 of them before trading up to the M version (due to the ability to feed SWCs). Mine dropped around 210gn with WW.

The XD-regular won't feed the SWC reliably, although you can get it to work occationally.

And of course the TC is an ultra reliable profile.
