5-7 gr 700x ,8-10 unique, never down loaded 2400 that far.

Never tried 700X, don't load 2400 that low, more for medium leval powder. I have sent a lot of lead down range with Green Dot though in that application.

16 gr 2400 is a great shooting load. None of those powders will "lead your bore" if fit and lube are correct.

Running 10gr of 700X and or bullseye in the 1903 springfield 06 with the Saeco #315 with gc. Got a batch loaded up without the gc now waiting for a trip to the range. Should be fine, pretty light loads.

As mentioned; 5-7 gr of the 700X should work as good as anything. I also don't load 2400 down that much.

Two of my sons have 30-06 rifles, the plinking load I load up for them is 9gr Unique 170gr Lee lubed with FWFL and no gascheck, I leave this boolit unsized. Very light recoiling and no leading.

This will work perfect. Low recoil

I do not currently cast my own bullets. I do purchase 165gr. flat nosed bevel based bullets from Hunter Supply. Loading these bullets over 8.0 gr. of Unique gives me very good results in my 1903 Springfield rifle. Firing 10 shot strings at 100 yds., I routinely get groups of 2 inches or less firing from the prone position. I have even used this load in vintage military rifle matches fired at 100 yds. The rifle averages 96.9 for the last 17 practice groups fired. It leaves absolutely no leading. The first round goes into the group. It is extremely consistent. It shoots like a .22 LR rifle. This load produces virtually no fouling. I haven't cleaned the barrel in almost 2,000 rounds. When I do clean it, all that is required is wiping the bore with a cotton patch dampened with Kroil. HTH. Sincerely. bruce.

I currently use 7.5grs of W231 with the Saeco #315 boolit and no GCs for the low-velocity plinking load. It is similar to 700x and Green Dot. I've seen loads as hot as 13.0grs of Red Dot, which is significantly faster, so I'd say anything 10.0grs and under is pretty safe, and as said above, proper boolit fit/size and lube take care of the leading. No Gas Checks required.

One thing I'd caution you on is that unless you tip the barrel up between each shot, you can get pretty good swings in velocity, which will show up as verticle stringing on your target. Some guys use a tuft of dacron to address this, but that effects pressures and hence loading levels. I've never used the dacron and simply tip the barrel up to the sky between each shot to make sure the powder is settled back in the rear of the case for each shot.

Lastly, expect a pretty gosh-darn good drop with these loads. I shoot them at 25-50 yards and no farther. If you shoot farther out than that, you'll need to upgrade to the 200-yd. load (16.0grs of 2400). That load is also very, very mild in recoil while retaining good power and not so bad drop, so you may want to check it out as a "do-it-all" cast boolit load.

There's a group buy in the works for an NOE 308403 (http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=101680&highlight=308403), which was designed by Harry M. Pope for the .30-06 for plinking. It's a plain base design that does not require sizing.

That boolit should be just about ideal!

11.0 gr 700x over a Lyman 311291 in AC wheel weights. You may want to start out at 10.0 gr and move up 0.5 gr. at a time. A fun load to shoot, don't bother with the gas check.

In the past I used in my 30-06 8grs very fast powder , like Bulleye , with dacron filler ,its gives with a Lee 150grs bullit, no gascheck, a very small group at 25 meter .sometimes hole in hole.
No recoil and safe.
I tryed on the 100 meter, but no good result.

10 gr Unique, 13 gr Red Dot or 16 gr 2400 are 'known good' mild cast boolit loads for
any full sized bottleneck milsurp cartridge of the late 19th and the 20th centuries.

NOT for 7.62x39, .30 Carbine, and probably some of the tiny cartridges like 6.5 Carcano
without further reduction.

I plink with a 311291 with the gas shank reamed out to make it plain base. I found two loads that work well in my mod 70. 13gr 2400 gives about 1350fps and 10.5gr red dot gives about 1400fps, decent accuracy-10 shot groups of 1 1/2" to 2" at 100 yards, no leading, nice lube star. Make mine a 10mm is right-there is a lot of drop with these light loads. I set the scope for a 100yd zero and only shot at 100yds, if I want to shoot at another distance I change the scope.

17gr of 2400 behind the 311407 is my stock plinker in the 30-40 and the 30-06. Works well in both without the need for fillers.
