What ratio do yall mix monotype and ww for things like 45 acp, 9mm and .30 for M1 carbines?? 2 to 1, 3 to 1??

For .30 Carbine, I use 3 to 1. I don't load for 9mm, but I do for .45 ACP, and I flip it around (3 ww to 1 monotype) since they don't need to be that hard to work well.

You don't need that hard of a mix for .30 Carbine either...

I agree. Even straight WW or yman #2 is hard enough for the calibers you listed.

Yup. Don't waste your mono.

A lot of people on this site mix WW & pure lead in a 1 to 1 ratio with a little solder for mold fill out.
5 lbs Clip-on WW
5 lbs pure lead
1 oz of 50/50 solder
= 10 lbs of alloy with 0.56% Tin, 1.49% Antimony, hardness @ 10

For monotype & pure lead, you can get a good alloy in a 1 to 10 ratio:
1 lb monotype
10 lbs pure lead
= 11 lbs of alloy with 0.82% Tin, 1.73% Antimony, hardness @ 10.5

You could probably even go 1 to 15 if you wanted to stretch the monotype:
1 lb monotype
15 lbs pure lead
= 16 lbs of alloy with 0.56% Tin, 1.19% Antimony, hardness @ 10

For your reference,
Clip-on WW has 0.5% Tin, 3% Antimony, hardness = 12
Monotype has 9% Tin, 19% Antimony, hardness = 26

Don't waste your hard lead. I mix 50/50 WW and range scrap for 30.06, 30 carbine and other rifle loads. For my .45acp I use 20-25% WW and range scrap. Don't get caught up in the "It has to be super hard" mentality. I did at first. It's just not necessary. Make it fit first.

I've been blending 3 parts lead/1 part monotype and getting close to my favored 92/6/2 alloy and BHn 14-15.

Are you using gas checks, and what velocity are you running at?

GC and WQ. My 30 Carbine loads are just under 1700 fps. I run 30.06 up to 1900 fps for the M1. Bolt action in 6.5X55 and 30.06 from 1600-1850.

I use W/W w/2% Pewter in the RCBS 32-170-FN @ ~1900fps for my .32 Win Spl and my barrel is as
clean as can be even after 50-100 rounds shot in a day at the range. It's a GC boolit and I load it
with 2230. I don't know how people get the hardness they do out of plain W/W and tin. The best
I can do with them even after a couple of weeks to settle down is around 9.5 BHN. That is what I
am shooting at the 1900fps with a gas check.

I use the same alloy for everything including .44 Mag but I rarely push the envelope. I will mix with
lino if I decide I want to harden things up. I tried water dropping and didn't become a fan of that.
I might try it again.

Ah, yes, but I am running pb bullets at full velocity. It do make a difference.

I am trying range lead (2% Sb) and monotype at 9:1. Air cooled is 13-14 BHN, water cooled is 21-22 BHN. I'll see how the water cooled shoots on Wed in .45 ACP, .45 Colt, and .44 Mag.
