I dunno, if the quality is there the price isn't too bad. There is a lot of work that goes into making something like that, and if it's as nice as they make it out to be it's sure a better buy than a $1400 Japanese made Winchester.

In the order section it said a 50% down payment is required at time of order. $600.00. I assume thats before you add on some goodies.

It looks like the Winchester M71. Not sure I need one but I do like that it is made in this country. That alone piques my interest.

Whooeee! Pig puncher supreme. I'm thinkin there's a couple under used toys in my battery that could be sacrificed for one of these. :guntootsmiley:

IIRC, MSRP = $1750.00, for either rifle or carbine.

The Model 89 action is midway in size, between a Model 1892/92 and a Model 1886/86.

Buffalo Bore 45-70 Magnum (sic) Lever Gun Ammo - 500 gr. F.M.J.F.N.(1,625fps/M.E.2,931 ft.lbs.)

500 S&W per http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.500_S%26W_Magnum : 500 gr (32 g) JSP/Hard Cast 1,500 ft/s (460 m/s) 2,500 ft•lbf

As a practical matter, why would one want to bother with the S&W, when you can get similar performance from a Marlin, a lot cheaper?

I handled one at the SHOT Show in January. I own lots of Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles and carbines, and this rifle wasn't as handy as they are. The action was also pretty rough, but then my guns have all been smoothed out and are slick as glass. It just didn't do it for me.

Hope this helps.
