Every once in a while I need to know the name of a particular part of a gun and I haven't been able to find a glossary of part names any better than this one: http://www.genitron.com/Basics/Glossary.asp

Do you know of a better one?

The part name I'm looking for today is the part of the cylinder where the boolit leaves the cylinder; the front of the cylinder if the muzzle is the front of the gun.

I hate to reveal my ignorance but I'm good at it...

Throat?

The throat is the cylindrical portion of the cylinder ahead of the chamber. The face is the flat part of the cylinder that runs perpendicular to the axis of the barrel forcing cone.

That's the mouth of the chamber or cylinder.

The mouth would be the portion of the cylinder where the bullet leaves the throat and enters the forcing cone. If the muzzle is the front of the barrel then the face is the front of the cylinder.

Hmmm, to put it more precisely the transition from the throat of the chamber to the face of the cylinder is the mouth.
