Fellas, one of the molds I bought from Ben recently is labeled 358-260 RF. I found a thread where we discussed this one, but can't find a final drawing or any indication that we ever placed the order. The thread began last year and fizzled out in August. Does anyone have a link to the design and some casting experience with it? Tony

Tony-
I think that was one of Wally Bators designs.

No link or design copy. It is at least 4 years old and a copy of the LY 3589. Mine weigh in around 28- grains. Gianni.

Yeah, they did 2 of'em and both came in weighing more then design weight by a not insubstantial amount. The above 200gr design came in weighing about 230 grs and the 260 gr was about like the Lyman 358009 in weight (280 or so).

This is a GB buy I would be interested in. A refined heavy 35.

45 2.1?

That would be a fine idea, but a couple of guys would have to send me some pounded throat slugs from a 358 or 35 Whelen as I don't have such. Not from lack of trying though. Some time ago, Tony sent me some of the custom buy 35 rifle slugs of the modified 358009, nice slug. Wally's boolit does indeed look good, but what does it fit with that long bearing surface and how far into the powder does it go?

I can do that.

I've got a 336 in 35rem, and a VZ-24 in 358 Winchester.

Bob, kind of depends on if you ream out your throat. My VZ 24 .358 Win. has the bullet seated well out. If you have a short action, you will have feed problems, as it will hit the barrel shoulder, at least in my new Mauser, on the first cartridge feeding from the left side. Working on that problem, and may be able to get it to feed properly. On some rifles, the C or H ring may need opening by a gunsmith, to get proper functioning. From my limited experience, I would say you want an intermediate or long action for the best feed capabilities with the Bator Heavy (358009 clone). From the results I have had with this bullet, I would say if you had a single shot chambered up to fit this bullet in the throat properly, you won't need to shoot anything more than once with it.
