Ok, going with Colt high profile dot rear sight. Two questions,

How high does the front sight need to be?
What is the width of a narrow tenon front sight and a wide tenon front rear sight?

If you can at all afford it, send the slide out & have the front & rear cut for dovetails. I usually send my slides to Novaks. Everybody seems to make sights cut for Novak dovetails. If you must go the tenon route, most gunsmiths open narrow tenon cuts to accept wide tenon sights because they are more durable due to their size. Front sight height is dependent upon the rear sight you're using, and the guns point of impact at your desired target distance.

IIRC "standard" height is .195 with a .125" blade.
