Hello,

Did some loading for my 12ga sxs project gun.
Loaded BPI LBC's, DGS's, Thunderbolts, Shuttlecock'd and NonTox.
4 each need to get a target and the Chrony out and do some shooting.
Hope to have a new load to test on deer this fall.

Hello Nitro, looks very good. I did notice on your second picture that some are slugs sticking out of the hull after roll crimping. If those are 2 3/4 hulls I'll suggest switch over to 3" hulls next time and a deep tight roll crimp for better combustion!

Cant wait to hear about your range results.
Wish you all the very best!

Hello

Thanks for the advice.
The chrony will tell the story.
I hope not to have any unburned powder.
unfortunately my gun only has 2 3/4" chambers.
so the 3" shells will be an issue.

Thx

Hello,

Also it is a SXS so slugs sticking out have no affect.

Hello,

Well the results are in.
Will post pics in the morning.

Green Slugs - Were **** tubling and 2 foot group at 25 yds. lots of unburned powder.

RSS - with 500 grain Hornady bullet No good grouping. 10" at 25 yds. lots of unburned powder.

Shuttle cock - shows promise good group 4" at 25 yds.

LBC - Shows promise 5" at 25 yds.

DGS - Not too bad 6" at 25 yds, leading pretty bad.

Thunderbolts - Best group 3" at 25 yds, also leading pretty bad.

Next shoot the top 3 over the chrony and up the chargees and see what happens.

I am assuming this is a smoothbore since it is SXS?

What powder are you using? I have been getting pretty good results with Blue Dot with slugs ranging from 430 gr. to over 600 grs. I only get unburned powder if I do not have a good plastic gas seal... or if it fails.

You might also consider AQ slugs if smoothbore. I got some nice groups of 6" at 100 yards with AQ's. Best long range slug I have shot. They are a little pricey for me to shoot many though.

You might try round balls too. I have been getting very respectable groups of 4" at 50 yards with my smoothbore. If you have chokes, the ball/shotcup combo has to be no larger than about 0.003" greater than the tightest choke. Groups do open up no far after 50 yards though.

Keep us posted on results.

Hello

Here are the targets for the 4 best loads.

http://forums.accuratereloading.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/971103014/m/5651045551

I am shooting a smoothbore SXS with extended colonial rifled choke tubes, "Modern Paradox".

I have tried round balls and full bore slugs also.

I am using red, blue dot, Unique, SR4756, 700x, 800x.

I have tried plastic gasseals, nitro cards, fibre wads, S3 and S4 wads with the petals and without.

Just about any and everything.
