Looking for some info as far as a good mold/bullet for this gun.
Prefer somthing in 260gr but willing to go to 300gr and gas checked.

And guidance will be appreciated.
Thanks
Dwight

Hi Dwight,

Although I haven't tried the 375 mold, I've had generally good results with Lee molds. They make a 250 gr 375 mold that sells for about $20.

Take care, Tom

Lyman has a plain base 250 gr mold and a gas check one at around 275 gr and a plain base 310 one. I have used the first two in both the 375 win and 38-55. You can use them in the 375 H&H with light and mild loads.

I use the Lyman 275. I have only "Hot- rodded" the caliber. I need to go back and explore light loads.
The #1 is a peach in that bore.

I use the BRP 310gr boolits and it will do about a inch @100yds (2000fps) if I do my part. I think he has a lighter design also.

BRP is one of the good ones.

Also, send an "E" to them and they are quick to reply.

You are wise to be checking BEFORE ordering a mold, as I am finding as a general rule, that the 45/70 for example shoots better with heavier boolits - 420gr plus - then it does with the lighter boolits.

Yes, lots of people shoot the 45 cal. cast boolits in the 300 gr. range, some with very good results but ----------------

I am still trying to find a sweet spot with my 355gr LBT/WFN boolits, but it seems like many folk, including the folk at BRP, feel heavier is better, more likely, in providing good groups.

The 375 H&H should be a fun cast boolit shooter, but maybe save yourself some bucks, time, testing and start with what works for most of the 375 shooters.

I wanted the lighter boolit, knowing that nothing in North American was going to stand up against that wt. boolit from my RUGER #1, HOWEVER, I also want good groups and the ability to relyably depend on this rifle for hunting game to at least 200yds.

I may have made a mistake, as to this point in my testing the 355gr boolits will be boarderline, at the very best,at 200yds.

If I do not see the results I desire - 1 1/2" or less at 100yds - very shortly after getting back to my testing this Spring, I will likely be in the market for a BRP mold in the 420 - 465gr range.

Keep em coming!

P.S.-------

Just a thought, but ya might send Lloyd Smale, a P.M. as he has lots of cast boolit experience and providing he has been there and done that with the 375, would be a good source of info.

Keep em coming!

Maybe underfunded is a better term, I ordered the Lee #90324 two cavity mould.
When it arrived I removed the bevel base and lapped it out to .379". Ended up with a 260 grain plain base boolit that shoots one ragged hole at a hundred yards with 21 grains of SR 4759.
Have a Weaver V9 scope on the gun.
I use a coat of Alox and a coat of wax and a tuft of dacron but am told the dacron isn't necessary. I use a card wad too. Dacron holds the wad in place.
I just don't like bevel bases. Magma will never count me as a customer.
Should give 1,250 to 1,300 fps. More powder leads the bore. Boolits are soft, 50/50 WW & pure.
I think I got the mould from Midway at around twenty bucks.
Gotta love those #1 .375s. As cheap to shoot as a .357 pistol.
