Just picked up an Outdoorsman with a Kings front sight and cockeyed hammer. Weird wood grips, need to shoot with them. Probably gonna shoot Elmer Keiths loads of 358429 and 12.5 of 2400 and 13.5 of 2400 and the 358439. Neat old gun with a four digit number.

not the prettiest sixgun around, just looks the rest of mine, well worn and shot a lot. read a bunch of Sixguns last night, all about the 38/44. kinda like it, and even have holster for it, an old safariland shoulder rig. cant wear much on my belt anymore with my rotten back..................

Frank:

The four digit serial number is curious ! Is that number from the butt of the frame? A club gun? Is it a 6.5" barrel ? Would you be willing to share the number offline?

Best Regards,

Jerry

Hello Glenn, collector of nice things;
The number is 88xx if I remember correctly, I may be wrong though. It looks like it is a pre war gun, the top strap is polished smooth,seems the later ones are stippled or something. I can send some pictures as soon as I get it home. I just put some money on it as it is in Montana. Will go back soon with my ffl and more money.
The story on the gun is, it came from east of Sacramento. Belonged to a sheriff with the initials of LAB or maybe it was owned by a dog............
