Found a fair deal on a new one. Question is hown well do they handle lead? I asume that giving proper size cylinder throats and right size bullet they should do fine. Also what twist do they have.I have a fondness for 180 to 200 gr. bullets.

Any info appreciated
Thanks

Ive had a GP100 for almost 20 years and sent quite a few thousands of rounds
down range with it. Most of them cast.

The only time I had leading problems was using hard commercial cast bullets.
Once I started casting my own I never had leading problems.

Im using the Lee TL158 SWC and TL148 WC. Ive shot them as cast
and tumbled lubed with no problem. Lately Ive been sizing them to .358.
Doesnt seem to matter either way.

its a nice revolver. You will like it....

My year old blued 6" gp shoots lead great, I shoot a 180 grain WFN I designed for it on Mountain Molds sight as it has an extremely short throat and nothing I had would quite fit when sized to .358 which it prefers.
At 50 yards, it's more accurate than me. And one of the few Ruger's that didn't require any trigger work. It must have been one of the last blued models they put out before they discontinued them.

My 4 inch has about 5000 rounds thru it, almost all were cast. I had some leading in the beginning but sizing to .359 and fire lapping the barrel made a big difference.

I have a GP 100 and have fired nothing but lead through it since I bought it. I get fine accuracy and no leading.

Even if it does lead, its likely we can fix it easily enough....

Mine was 6" and maybe a couple of thousand lead bullets gone thru it.

My best group was a gascheck bullet (158 grains) sized to 357. Ever since then, that's the one I used.

My gp100 shoots lead better than jacketed. Like you said righ size though. I have shot 105-205gr bullets through mine. Mine shoots best in the 158-180gr range. The 158 and 170 bullets are plainbased. The 180's I shoot are the rcbs sillywet bullet. I love mine and am always on the prowl for another well priced and in good shape one.

My GP-100 6" Stainless shoots cast very well. I had some leading issues with it when it was new. I had to ream the throats and fire lap the barrel. Since then I have zero leading. I also did an Ibok trigger job on it and it is sweet.
