I have an old S & W in .32 Long on the I frame.

I have lots of Universal Clays, but I think I might like something a bit more, I don't know, gentle? I'm not really looking for economy. I also have some Blue Dot and I wouldn't mind a load that was pretty much a case full with BD. A four inch barrel.

Something that would give me ~ 900 fps would be nice. These boolits are about 98 grains.

Thanks.

im shooting a lot of 2400 and H4227 in my 32 MAG right now. 32 S&W Long hasnt made it to my list yet. universal clays is next on my list for the mag. my bullets drop about 101gr with WWs. im very happy with that mould.

I have shot a lot of S&W L in my various .32 Mags. I have mostly shot Hornady HBWC's with about 2.0 grs of Bullseye and Fed 100 primers. They shoot very well with practically no recoil.

You can use 2.5 of Win 231 for good results with the WC. LYman's 46th Edition Reloading manual shows max load of bullseye with a 100 gr bullet is 3.0 grs. That'll give you about 800 fps with cast.

With my new Lee GB Keith bullet (100 grs cast) I'll be using about 3.0 to 3.5grs of Win 231 in my various .32 mags with S&W Long cases.

Red Dot bulks up very nicely in the .32 S&W Long case and gives very good accuracy. I generally use it in 2.5 grain doses with cast bullets in this weight range.

After 25 years with the 32 S&W Long, I can't add a word to what is posted above. All good info.

Catshooter,

This load shot work for you. It has worked pretty good for me, in several .32 pistols. 8-8.5 grains- Blue Dot. works for 90-120 grain boolits. Play with the oal seating depth, as it will make a big difference in accuracy and be sure to crimp firmly. Mild annd pleasant to shoot.
Shot it in Merrill (aka XL) Single shot, T/C Contender, Dan Wesson Revolver, Benelli Target Pistol.

Have Fun Shooting,
Jon

I use either W231, Red Dot or Bullseye but like Red Dot the best as I like it alot in other guns. I've used 2.2gr or 2.5 gr. for each of the powders with equally good results.

Jon K,

I got a chance to start my reloading for this boolit/cartridge. According to my Lyman 2nd Ed, page 124 lists 5.4 grains as max for the .32 H & R mag! Is my book wrong, or did you make a mistake?
