I am looking for information on an article that I read several years ago where a gentleman built a swaging / reloading press out of a single piece of hex stock. I think the flat to flat dimension on the blank was 4". If you know the link to this article I would really appreciate it.

In the article the builder milled out the access opening and with a common bored ram hole and threaded top hole. He had a working press with minimal parts that would be, in my mind rather robust.

Once found I am willing to draw up some dimensional drawings to share if there is enough interest.

Thanks,

Jonkzak

Think the press and thread your talking about was built by ElkHunter here. Search his posts should be able to find it.

That's the ticket. Thanks guys, and of course Elk Hunter. Since you've made it how has the performance been?

Thanks,

Jonkzak

Similar to the Herters 9 ton press and dies.

It works fine, the only thing I would change is the size (height) of the opening and the length of stroke by say one-half to three quarters of an inch, as it is a bit tight when making 400 grain .416 bullets.

And yes, it is nothing more than an oversize Herters nine ton.

is that a 416 made form cut down and de rimmed 30-30 brass? That is pretty nice work. Thanks for sharing once again.
