Has anyone used this mold and do you like it?

I am looking for something with a larger meplat than my other 45cal boolit molds.
I am thinking about the 4 cavity version.

it is my favorite mould.
45 colt, 45 A.R.even the acp's like it.
leverguns and revolvers..
it holds a good amount of lube has a nice square base, crimp groove is in the right position.
it goes just a titch over 1.610 if needed.
i also like it for hunting.
i wish there was a superclose 44 equivelant.

did i mention i like this mold.

LYMAN 429667...240 grains. BUT I like the RANCH DOG TLC 432 265 and its lube groove plain base clone from NOE even better.

Hopefully it will cast large enough for you.

I also cast, load and shoot this bullet in .45 Colt, but have not tried it in .45 ACP. What kind of powder charge and OAL are you using?

I have used the Lyman 452664 a good deal in my .45 Colt Vaquero with black powder and pyrodex.

It has done extremely well when lubed with my home made Emmert's lube. I can shoot 75 rounds of black powder before the cylinder starts getting "sluggish" and requires cleaning and lubing. Cleaning and lubing takes maybe ten minutes (or less) and I am ready for another 75 rounds.

It appears that the number of shots you can get with black when using a revolver is revolver dependent (after you learn to properly cast and load with black powder).

My Vaquero has been a champ with that bullet and black (as well as Pyrodex).

I have two of the Lyman four cavity 452664 45-250-FPBB and both drop 250 grains +/- one grain with my alloy from all eight cavities and size perfectly to .452.

The .452 is good to know as I will be using it im my Vaquero .45 Colt.

It looks like many like this mold so I will add it to my need to order list.

Thanks

I have a couple hundered cast up from a mold I borrowed from Ken long ago. I size them .452 and have loaded in 45 ACP right at the ragged threshold with Blue Dot of MY P220. they cast and shoot well enough.

429667 is the 44 cal equivelant. My FAVORITE boolit in 44 cal. Has the same metaplat as the 429421 without all the square corners and problems with casting.

i started at 4 grs titegroup but went to 5 grs of unique and worked up seating out as far as i could get them to go in the 1911's.
i like it in the 625 with the ar cases, makes a nice old time 45 colt equivelant load in a smaller easier to load package.
with the moon clips in acp cases for round the house.
