Does anyone have a favorite 200 yd 45-70 load for Marlin cowboy? I have been using 405's but I have some 350's I need to use up. They are sized .359 and are supposed to be about 15 according to the caster. Powders on hand are IMR 4198 Solo 1000 and HS 7. I have used some Trail Boss but I am out. I am also interested in a 300 yard load. I have been told that I would have to use 405's at that distance. What say the experts. Thanks BB.

From the powders you have I'd use IMR4198.

+1.........the other powders are too fast for 200 yards as they will have to be mouse fart loads to keep the pressures safe resulting in a huge rainbow trajectory. I don't know exactly what you are wanting but I prefer slower powders that fill the case more and 4895 or a slower powder may be a better choice for the 300 yard loads as you can pick up the velocities while keeping check with safe pressures making for a flatter shooting load.
