The 6.8 is going back into the safe for the near future. Hopefully, I will raise enough funds to purchase a custom mold and get back to it towards fall. Got to get the sillywet guns going.

Took it out today and got a decent group at 50 yards. At 100 yards, I could not keep it on the paper. Shot 5 jacketed to see if it was the rifle, me or the loads. The jacketed bullets went into about a 1 1/2 inch group.

I guess I will chew on this for a while and see if I can come up with some idears in a few months.

Managed to cut a sky screen wire in half with my first shot through the chronograph. The reading for one shot was 2238fps if anyone is interested.

When I do get back to it, I am thinking 95-100gr boolit and trying to get it down to about 1800 fps.

I've been keeping an eye out for a 105gr - 115gr mold for this caliber for over a year and a half. No such luck yet, but am in no big rush to get it going. Have too many other guns to feed right now.

Maybe someone will create a GB for a mold for it?

I've got the lyman 280468S single cavity mould if you want to beat your head against the wall for a little bit.

LBT has molds in the correct weight range for the 6.8.

I have put the firearm away, but am still thinking about it. I will probably buy a mountain mold for it around July. With the boolits kinda grouping at 50 and going wild at 100, I think I am at borderline stabilization. I am thinking lighter boolits, but in order to keep the velocity down, I need to lower the powder charge. At 25 gr of 4895, I would occasionally have issues with the bolt going back fully into battery. Might have been a sizing problem with the Loverin type slugs.

Any thoughts?

Now that's a problem we all should have :bigsmyl2:

If it were me I would think about getting one of the good flat wire springs to give it a little more umph going into battery, maybe a little heavier buffer as well.
