Anyone know if there is a difference in the size of action from 336 to 444 or 1895 Marlin actions? I'm looking for the width. I just bought a 336 which seems approx. 1" wide (across flats) and was wondering if the actions for bigger calibers are thicker? Also wondering width of Marlin 94 action if someone happens to know.

Reason for asking as I have a receiver sight that is a bit wide for a 336 but is just right for a Winchester 94 (approx 1.125" wide) and I was wondering if the bigger caliber Marlins would be wider.

The Marlin actions 336-444-1895S are all the same width and length. The difference is in the lifters, bolt face, and ejection port. Receiver sights that fit the 336 will also fit the 1894, 94, 1893, 93, 1936, 36.

That's a handy thing to know, thank you!
